What is a Bad Credit Secured Loan?

A Bad Credit Secured Loan is simply a loan available to Homeowners who may find it more difficult to borrow.

Whether due to a lower credit score, late payments, CCJs, the amount of credit debt or having recently moved home – it can all affect your ability to borrow.

However, the good news is with a Bad Credit Secured Loan it provides:

  • more flexibility to tailor the loan criteria around your circumstances
  • the ability to borrow larger amounts by providing lender confidence in securing against equity in your home
  • lower rates than many alternative forms of credit

Consolidating with a low rate Secured Loan could help you to avoid further bad credit

How consolidating debt with a Secured Loan can help with bad credit

Mr and Mrs Sotherby had over £34,738 across 4 different credit cards with a less than perfect credit score due to previous missed payments. They were making the minimum monthly repayments of £1,283 each month and barely reducing their balances because of the high credit card interest rates ranging from 24.9% to 34.9%.

The solution…

They consolidated all 4 of their credit cards with a Secured Loan through us AND even borrowed an additional £5,000 as they wanted to make some much needed home improvements.

What was achieved was life-changing for them…

Even by borrowing extra, they managed to significantly reduce the amount they were repaying – by a massive £766 a month.

Now they have just ONE affordable monthly repayment, and more money left over each month to enjoy family life again.

Popular questions about secured loans

Can I apply for a Secured Loan with bad credit?

Yes, as long as you have enough equity in your home and meet the required criteria you can apply for a Secured Loan. We work with specialist lenders who can offer deals designed specifically for people with bad credit. Plus, getting a quote won’t affect your credit score.

It often comes down to how quickly you can provide the required information. The quicker you can provide, the faster the Secured Loan can be completed.

Generally, a Secured Loan can complete in as little as 5 working days.

Yes, if you have an impaired credit score due to missing repayments for any reason, then by having just one, more affordable monthly loan repayment should help you to avoid missing further repayments and in turn could help you to improve your credit score.

Yes, you have the option to repay the outstanding balance on your loan at any time. However, many lenders will charge an Early Repayment Fee. Depending on how much is left to repay, this can make early repayment a less desirable option so if you are planning this, it’s worth reviewing lenders with loan options that don’t have an Early Repayment Fee.

Yes, we can provide a in principle, no-obligation Secured Loan quote so you can see how much you could benefit before you do a full application.
Many customers do this and often find their monthly repayments are significantly less than what they are paying now on their current credit repayments.

Based on the information that you provide us with initially, we can review loan options across our full panel of lenders to see what options you could be accepted for. We can then provide you with a no-obligation, in-principle loan quote and as long as the information you provided is correct, could mean that you could be accepted for the loan.

At the next stage we would perform a full credit check before providing your formal loan offer from the lender.

This means there is nothing to lose in obtaining a Bad Credit Secured Loan quote to see what you could be accepted for. You’ll be able to see your rate and how much lower your new monthly repayments could be.

Depending on the reason for your bad credit score will depend on what the interest rate of the loan could be. We have lots of different loan options available for many different financial circumstances.

Often customers’ credit scores aren’t as bad as they think it is and so are positively surprised at how low the interest rate is offered to them. Additionally, depending on the amount of equity available in their property (property value minus the mortgage balance) can also influence the rate you are offered.

We’re experts in bad credit so can help advise on the best Secured Loan options available to you that you could be accepted for with bad credit.

Not to get a no-obligation quote there isn’t, as we only perform a soft search that won’t impact your credit profile.

Following your quote, if you would like to proceed with getting your formal Secured Loan offer from the lender then a credit check will be performed to ensure that we and the lender undertake our due diligence before formally offering the loan.
